ComputerTweak.com Newsletter ---------------------------- Table of Contents: 1. Updates to the site 2. Tech tips 3. Freeware Downloads **************************** Updates to the Webpage **************************** Well, this is the maiden voyage for ComputerTweak.com and the first newsletter for this website. Basically this is a short-run newsletter, umm, I mean that almost no one will see this, but I thought I have to write one and I might as well start now with getting into the habit of writing a bi-monthly Newsletter. The webpage is coming along nicely I think, it's still rough around the edges and there are lots of things I had to add and lots of tutorials yet to come. Also my ebook section is empty at the moment, but it will soon fill up with some interesting ebooks or at least I hope they will be interesting ebooks. At the moment there are 15 tutorials on the site, plenty of freeware downloads, and also some pearls of wisdom on everything from Outlook Express to Internet security. So, stop by the website and poke around. Oh, and don't forget the messageboards I set up, they're feeling mighty lonely at the moment and if I don't start getting postings soon I'll just have to start talking to myself on the boards. Trust me, you don't want me talking to myself on the messageboards, it just won't be a pretty sight. That's all for this section of the newsletter. Thanks for subscribing and I look forward to hearing from all the people that stop off at ComputerTweak.Com Sincerely, Andrew Montgomery **************************** Tech Tips **************************** This is a Windows XP tip that should convince everyone to upgrade to Windows XP. The system restore function in Windows XP allows you to completely restore you system to a previous date, meaning that it takes a snapshot of your system, and if you want to restore it to a few days before (like when your computer was working) you just go to system restore and pick a date from the calendar of dates they have listed. I've already had to use this function once. A friend recommended a program that was a little less than stable...I was getting all sorts of interesting errors from it, but DA DA DAAAAAA along came system restore to completely fix my computer to it's working condition of a day ago. You get to System Restore by going to Start-->All Programs-->System Tools-- >system restore. This will bring up the interface and a calendar where you can pick a restore point. If you want a complete tutorial on this with pictures, ahhh pictures make everything easier, then go to: http://www.webterrace.com/tweak/4.htm This is the tutorial on ComputerTweak.Com System restore, feel the power of easily fixing your comp...probably the best feature in Windows XP. -AM *************************** Freeware Download *************************** I'm a freeware fanatic, I just can't stop myself from downloading and trying out new software.
