     Email Clients

Email clients allow you to get your POP3 email sent to one handy and easy to use program where you can write, sort, save and organize your email.  There is a surprising void in software to handle this application and I would really appreciate it if someone could point out other software that is available to handle this task.  I will be reviewing the big three email clients and giving you the pluses and minuses of each.  Note before writing this that I get hundreds of email a day from all my various websites that I've written, so my needs are a bit extreme when it comes to an email program.

Netscape Navigator Mail
Rating:
Cost:  Free

Review:  Well, I've yet to find a perfect mail client, but Netscape Mail comes the closest to suiting my needs at the moment.  The main reason I use it is the way in which it handles attached files...You don't download them or have questions asked regarding downloading the attachments.  They also have a slightly difficult but much more useful filter system then all the other email clients.  I can write specific rules about what mail to permit to my account cutting down on endless amounts of junk mail that I get.  Downsides come from that filter though, you can't easily click and put someone on the block list like you can in Outlook.  Other than that, it runs very similar to Outlook only it avoids two things:  1.  Viruses specifically targeted at Outlook and 2.  Handles attached files in a safer manner.   There is also one other very nice function with Netscape, you can view AOL mail on it.  No other program allows you this option, but with Netscape its a breeze to set up your AOL email account with them.  So if you have AOL and want an email client this is the one to use!!  This software comes bundled with the Netscape Browser which is also free.  I recommend that you have Netscape Browser as well, why not break free of the chains of Micro$oft and see what else is out there.

Outlook Express
Rating:
Cost:  Free

Review:  Outlook Express comes bundled with the Windows OS, so you have it on your computer already in most cases.  Generally it would be an all right program, they've slightly improved it with a security patch that will prevent certain dangerous attachments, but still it isn't a perfect fix.  Another problem, generally there seems to be A LOT of viruses targeted at Outlook users, now this isn't because people are just picking on Outlook, it means that Outlook has quite a few holes in it, hopefully most have been found and patched by now, but it always seems that Outlook is the target for most of the malicious viruses.  Generally an alright email client, but not perfect by far!

Eudora
Rating:
Cost:  Free

Review:  I won't even justify giving this email client a rating, all I can say is that they add spyware to you computer.  In the process of making this "free" email client Eudora decided that the people that download this program wouldn't mind spyware sitting on their comp.  Just a bad practice and makes Eudora a MUST AVOID type program!

As I said earlier, if you could email me with other email client programs I would really appreciate it and will review the program promptly.
