Halloween
Safety Tips
-
Costumes
for your child should be safe and fireproof. Be sure eyeholes
are large enough for them to have peripheral vision. Also, that
the headgear they're wearing has enough ventilation.
-
An adult
should accompany young children when they trick or treat. If
you can't go with them, make sure an adult that you know can go with
them or a responsible teenage sibling. If you don't have a responsible
escort for your child, throw a Halloween party in your home for your
child and some friends.
-
Check all
Halloween candy that you child collects before they eat it.
-
If your
child is carrying Halloween accessories - eg. A knife, pitchfork,
etc., be sure the tips are smooth (preferably made out of rubber).
It would be advisable to carry a flashlight when trick or treating
at night to enhance visibility. Also, put reflector strips on
your child's costume. Better yet, do trick or treating in daylight
hours.
-
Be sure
your child's costume is not too long or has loose pieces that your
child could trip over. It's not advisable that high heels are
worn.
-
Leave pumpkin
carving to adults to avoid injury. Let your kids clean out the
pumpkin and draw a face on it which you can carve for them.
Safety Tips For Pets
-
Do not give
in to your pet's begging for candy. Remember Chocolate can be
deadly to them.
-
Halloween
is the one day to keep your pets tucked away safely in your home.
There are cruel people that play Satanic rituals on Halloween and
sacrifice animals - especially black cats beware!!!
-
Don't confine
and restrict your pet in some outlandish pet Halloween costume.
Your pet doesn't understand why he's being dressed in this manner
- it will only frighten and stress the poor animal.
-
Don't leave
candy wrappers around your home. The smell of the candy will
still be on the wrapper and will be very tempting for your pet to
chew on and swallow. The wrapper could get stuck in your pets
digestive tract and cause illness or even death.
-
Don't leave
any lighted candles or Jack-O-Lanterns lit by candles where they could
be knocked over by your pets tail or it's curiosity.
-
Teach your
children to treat all pets with kindness and love.
