Greek Sour Cream Cake
½ lb. butter
2 c. sugar
5 eggs
3 c. sifted cake flour
3 tsp. baking powder
½ tsp. baking soda
½ c. milk
1 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
Syrup: (Make ahead)
2 c. sugar
1 ¾ c. water
½ tsp. lemon juice
Melt butter and cool. In large bowl, cream butter with sugar and add
eggs; cream mixture well. Add flour and dry
ingredients alternately with milk and sour cream. Stir in vanilla.
Grease and flour a 9x13-inch Pyrex pan and pour in
batter. Bake in 350 degree oven for 35 minutes. Pour cooled syrup
over hot cake.
Syrup: Boil all ingredients for 10 minutes. Pour cooled syrup over
hot cake.
