Rich Rolls
2 env. dry yeast
½ c. warm water
1 T. sugar
1 c. milk
½ c. sugar
1 tsp. salt
¼ c. butter
¼ c. shortening
2 eggs
5 c. flour
Sprinkle yeast and sugar over warm water. Let stand for 5 to 10
minutes. Scald milk. Add sugar, salt, butter and
shortening. Stir and set aside until lukewarm. Add part of flour to
make a thick batter and mix well. Add yeast mixture and
eggs and beat well. Add enough flour to make a soft dough. Knead
until dough is smooth and satiny. Place dough in
greased bowl. Cover and let rise until doubled. Punch dough down and
let rest for 10 minutes. Form into rolls and place
on greased baking pans. Let rolls rise in warm place until very
light. Bake in 400 degree oven for 15 minutes or until
baked.
