Greek Pasta or Poutinga
A layered dessert of syrup-laced cake, vanilla pudding, topped with
whipped cream.
Cake Layer:
4 eggs
½ c. sugar
¾ c. sifted flour
¼ farina
½ tsp. baking soda
Beat eggs and sugar until creamy. Sift together flour and baking
soda. Add to egg mixture. Stir in farina. Pour in a
greased 9x11-inch pan and bake in a preheated 350 degree oven for 20
minutes. Remove from oven, cool to room
temperature, then spoon cooled syrup over the cake. Allow cake with
syrup to cool completely.
Syrup:
1 c. sugar
1 ½ c. water
1 stick cinnamon
Boil, then simmer for 10 minutes.
Pudding Layer:
1 lg. pkg. vanilla pudding mix
3 c. milk
Follow directions on pudding mix. Pour on cooled cake and
refrigerate until pudding is set.
Topping: Whip one carton of heavy cream with 1 teaspoon vanilla
until stiff. Spread on cooled dessert. Sprinkle with
toasted slivered almonds if desired. This cake should be
refrigerated.
