Koulourakia II
1 lb. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
½ c. milk
1 tsp. vanilla
4 ½ c. flour
2 tsp. baking powder
1 egg
1 T. milk
Sesame seeds
Cream butter and sugar together until light and creamy. Beat eggs in
separate bowl and add to butter-sugar mixture.
Add milk and vanilla. Sift flour and baking powder together and
gradually add to first mixture until you have a soft dough
that cleans the sides of the bowl. Knead lightly by hand. Take small
amounts of dough and roll into strips and shape into
figure eights or braid two strips together, pinching the ends. Beat
egg with the milk. Place koulourakia on ungreased
baking sheets and brush tops with beaten egg-milk mixture. Sprinkle
with sesame seeds. Bake at 350 degrees for 20
minutes.
