Herb Gardens
This is one
of my favorite topics, the indoor herb garden. Not only is it attractive,
but you have fresh herbs right on hand when you want to cook. Now,
I start all my herbs from seeds, they are very easy to get going and
this is a very cheap way to get an indoor herb garden . Also the fact
that they grow fairly quickly, you won't have to wait forever for
results.
Use just regular potting soil to start the
herb garden, I find it is the best, and also the easiest to get, you
don't have to worry about mixing various portions of different items.
When planting the seeds, follow the directions on the individual packages,
because different herbs may have different needs. Mist the pots with
the seeds, keep the soil moist like this until the seeds germinate.
Make sure you place the pot in a sunny window. Now herb plants, once
they sprout, shouldn't be over watered, they don't take kindly to
it (learned from experience).
Once the herbs are established, you can snip
the herbs down as often as you want, the snipping will actually promote
further growth, so snip away and add them to your favorite recipes.

with the growing of herbs. Some of the more popular cooking herbs
that I like to use are: chives, dill, parsley, sage, mint, thyme,
and many others. |
