DIET! One of the most dreaded words in the English
language...it means giving up all those delectable
desserts, it means working out, it means the end to happiness
as we know it, well, maybe I over-exaggerate the traumatizing
effects of dieting, but that's what it feels like when you're
on a diet. So, why is it that dieting is so hard?
Like any substance that enters the body your body becomes
accustom to certain levels of sugars, proteins, calories,
and so on...so when you go on the diet, your body isn't
getting what its used to and it complains to you, by making
you feel hungry, nauseous, sleepiness, and many other symptoms.
So in many ways food is an addiction, our body gets addicted
to certain things, and when we take those certain things
away our body sends you a messages. That's usually
why the first few days of a diet is always the most difficult,
because that's when the cravings are the worst.
How do we lose weight then? After all, we still
have to eat, its not like a smokers addiction to cigarettes
or a alcoholics addiction to liquor. We still have
to eat, but we have to change what we eat, how our body
works, and how we live our lives. Long-term weight
loss means a change in lifestyle, not a temporary fix.
This webpage is dedicated to getting you started on your
road to a healthy lifestyle, not just a temporary fix,
and it deals with getting over those first few painful
days and weeks of a diet.
Now, a little about me, I'm not a doctor, I'm not a nutritionist,
I'm a person that has dealt with all the ins and outs
of dieting. These are tips, facts, and just general
commentary on my own personal experience with dieting.
I would like to think that my own personal experiences
with dieting will give you a better outlook on what works
and what doesn't. Each person is different and what
works for some doesn't work for others, but these are
scientific fact mixed with real world experience.
The exercise section will give tips on how to get started
and the benefits of exercise, the diet tips section will
be just that, some helpful tips to get you on the road
to dieting. The negative food section deals with
foods that basically can be eaten in any quantity and
the fat burning food section is a website I wrote about
foods that speed up your metabolism. I hope you
find this website informative and helpful. Please
email me if you have questions or comments about the site...I
try to answer all my email within a weeks time.
One other thing, before starting any diet or exercise
program you should check with your doctor first.
